Right Track Bowling: In and Around Myanmar: Yangon Photographer

Last weekend, we took our kids and their friends to Bowling.
When we arrived, there was a huge group of people so we had to wait about an hour.
Eventually we got to play and the kids absolutely loved bowling (for the first 5 frames) then asked to go home.

The facility might not be as "beautiful" what we are used to but they have everything you need.
Scores are shown up on top as well as where you are sitting.
No need to pencil and paper to calculate your scores (I remember doing this about 25 years ago.. =)
My kids had their rubber bottomed crocs on and that was fine for them to use.
They didn't ask us to rent for the kids since they didn't have the sizes for the rental shoes.
The price is VERY reasonable!  1500kyat per game.

For the location, you can check out this link.  The map is quite accurate.

For a short weekend sporting activity (which would be a great alternative to screen games) this was great!

Pomelo, Yangon: in and around Myanmar

I wrote about Helping Hands last month (see the post

here

) and I mentioned that I would love to stop by the shop that houses non-profit entities for retail venue.

Well, I did just that!  I got to visit Pomelo~  =)

Wow, so many creative minds are behind this project.  You can read more about it on the Pomelo

website

but I was quite impressed how these ladies, who are mostly expats, are so dedicated to help the people in Myanmar.  All the expats working there are volunteers.  They do not get paid a cent!  not one Kyats (equivalent to .001 dollar)

All the money goes back to materials and mostly the locals for their housing, medical and other needs.

I 100% recommend this place.  Very creative and beautiful things there.  The photos were from last week, but I visited again this week and saw some cool new things, such as a cover for a balloon!  I also got somethings for my daughter which I hope to use in a photo shoot tomorrow...   =)  please no rain...

Here are some snippets of the shop~

Rest... in the shade: Yangon Photographer

Oh... it's hot here in Yangon.
It's a monsoon season and yes it does rain A LOT!
I just got poured on this afternoon on the way to get a taxi.

But when it's not raining, it's SUNNY.  Super sunny.
Our transportation currently has been taxis only so far.
We still have to walk a bit to get to the main street meaning, we will be walking in the sun.

There's a nice tree on the way... If we have time, we like to stay there even for a second...

Here's an entry to I Heart Faces photo challenge.  Check out here for other awesome submissions~

Change - Moving to Yangon, Myanmar

Leaving Hong Kong for me was easy for me, mentally and emotionally.
Even though Hong Kong was so good to me and I absolutely love the city, I was ready to try some quiet life for a couple of years.

My kids, on the other hand, were not as excited as I.
They did not want to leave the modern facilities and fancy shops and readily available toy shops to a place where these things were a bit harder to find.

We believe those "things" we leave behind will not be so important.  Leaving behind friends we've made are a different story.

Here are a few pictures of my kids enjoying walking and running on the street right outside of our new place.  It's relatively quiet and not many cars come by.  The walk is only a few minutes but you can feel the slow pace of the city.

I think this is what we need.  Just to re-charge until we move on to our next country.  We are super excited to be here, to make new friends (which has already happened =) , to explore and appreciate Yangon!

Also say hello on my facebook~  I would love to see you there as well!

Photographer Introduced : Fiddle Oak

Wow there are some amazing photographers out there!

This one I want to introduce to you is only 14 years old.  He has amazing creative mind.  Its very whimsy and fun!  He miniaturizes himself to many different scenes!

You can see his amazing work here.

My son and I collaborated and tried to do one ourselves.

Of course it's not as nearly as perfect for putting it together in a few minutes on photoshop.  But my son was quite happy with the result.

The pool and the mountain scenery you see him swimming in his actually his 3D art work he brought from home.  I thought it was just so realistic for a work of a 8yo.  He pretended to enjoy himself swimming and we combined the pics together.  We made a few of him so he won't be swimming all by himself.

Enjoy~!
