Playing with fire.. Playing with Photoshop...

Wow...

Amazing what photoshop can do for/to your pictures!

I never really used photoshop before.
My thought was: I should be able to portray what I see through the lens as I take the pictures.
So I fiddle with my manual settings a lot.
Even trying to focus manually.  Can you imagine?!?!

Anyway, I've come across many beautiful pictures online and I have noticed that alot of pictures are manipulated to get the point across even more.  Dreamy, grunge, intense, more color, vintage and etc

I think it's part of how you express yourself or that photo or that moment.
I'm having so much fun, I've started staying up so late to do these activities.  (uh..  this is not good!)

I have converted.  I will maybe not retouch ALL my pictures but it really makes a difference with some you do.

So here are a couple I have played with tonight for your enjoyment~

btw, I like my originals better...  I think i'm doing something wrong.

HELP~!!!

Can you tell which ones are the originals????

Going back to School... Going back to me....

Wow...

It's been a week since my youngest has gone back to school.

He's been going full time for past few months but what's different about this year is that I don't have to take him there anymore, which is about 40 minute commute one way.

He was ready for this transition.  Finally not needing me anymore.  But I'm not sure if I am...
I'm quite surprised of how gradual and pleasant this process has been.
My schedule which used to be around his drop off pick up times are extended to so many more frree hours during the day...

Emotionally, mentally and physically, I do not know what to do with myself!

Slowly but surely, I am starting keep myself busy.  Is it a coincidence that I am transitioning into more avid photographer?  or even thinking of getting paid for the work I love to do? gasp!  I have so much more to learn and experience!  I would love to do baby portraits, family photography and events!!!  my favorite would be events!

This is all part of becoming a new me.  I can't wait for the next chapter of my life to unfold.  Thank God for all the supportive people around me!  So in 2012, my resolution is to work on my self and to find what works for me and what to about it!  Can't wait!!

Super late holiday cards

It is so rare these days to receive anything hand written...

Invitations...  printed on a computer or evite
letters... email, facebook, linked-in or sms
thank you cards..  sent via email or also printed on a computer

It seems that soon the art or hand writing will be obsolete.

How sad would that be?

Even the teachers comment that kids are learning to type a lot earlier then before and cursive writing is just to know basis but not a necessity.

So I purposely make my kids write birthday invitations and thank you cards(when I do have an organized mind).  In addition to that, this year, I wanted the kids to write to their grandparents.

Since there were some complications in getting these cards to HK, I just got them few days ago AFTER New Years Day.

Oh well. Better late then never, right???

One them liked to write in more lengthy ways while the other two either just signed or stamped away.  I'm glad in any case, they have this experience.

Hopefully they will write me when I'm old and far from them...

Cobbler

I love finding something that's so special to old Hong Kong.

Seeing tall buildings and shiny windows are all nice.  But living abroad, we want to be able to feel a littlebit the past of the country we are living in.

We were able to find a bit of that last week.

Of course we could've gone to a nicer place with fancier decor but why when the whole experience is worth so much more here in this little alley with no name, off of Peddler St.

I love it that even his shoes are marked with the word COBBLER.

You can also find key makers, stamp makers and etc in this busy alley.

Dragon's Back - Hiking

My family spent the last day of year 2011 hiking up Dragon Back by Shek O.

The view was absolutely amazing.

It reminded us of New Zealand, heaven on earth!  It was so nice to get out of the city and breathe some fresh air.  There are quite a number of trails that separate so you are not with too many people at one time.

This is a must for anyone who visits Hong Kong!

our next hike...

Happy 2012 From Tsim Sha Tsui to the Peak

Happy New Year!

I'm sorry I don't know what happened to the countdown...
BUT!!

Here it is anyway! 2012!

During the day we spent our last day of 2011 hiking and looking down the beautiful view of Hong Kong nature.  That post to come later.  ---> here

We ventured out to Tsim Sha Tsui, Avenue of the stars and got to be part of a big crowd and the excitement.
It was evident that we arrived too late and couldn't find a great spot to enjoy the fireworks.
We moved to the Peak just in time for the countdown and was able to look down the fireworks!

We wish you the best for whatever it is in your heart in 2012!!!

How did you celebrate your New Year's day to come?
