Change - Moving to Yangon, Myanmar

Leaving Hong Kong for me was easy for me, mentally and emotionally.
Even though Hong Kong was so good to me and I absolutely love the city, I was ready to try some quiet life for a couple of years.

My kids, on the other hand, were not as excited as I.
They did not want to leave the modern facilities and fancy shops and readily available toy shops to a place where these things were a bit harder to find.

We believe those "things" we leave behind will not be so important.  Leaving behind friends we've made are a different story.

Here are a few pictures of my kids enjoying walking and running on the street right outside of our new place.  It's relatively quiet and not many cars come by.  The walk is only a few minutes but you can feel the slow pace of the city.

I think this is what we need.  Just to re-charge until we move on to our next country.  We are super excited to be here, to make new friends (which has already happened =) , to explore and appreciate Yangon!

Summer in the states

We had an amazing summer break in the states. Kids took chess and science classes just for fun. We also went camping in the woods with s'mores and all.  We took a boat out to go diving and swimming in a lake.  It was great!!!!

With school just around the corner (two days to be exact), I wanted to post some pics of summer before I start playing with kids first day of school photos.

How was your summer?  Are you ready for school yet?

Photographer Introduced : Fiddle Oak

Wow there are some amazing photographers out there!

This one I want to introduce to you is only 14 years old.  He has amazing creative mind.  Its very whimsy and fun!  He miniaturizes himself to many different scenes!

You can see his amazing work here.

My son and I collaborated and tried to do one ourselves.

Of course it's not as nearly as perfect for putting it together in a few minutes on photoshop.  But my son was quite happy with the result.

The pool and the mountain scenery you see him swimming in his actually his 3D art work he brought from home.  I thought it was just so realistic for a work of a 8yo.  He pretended to enjoy himself swimming and we combined the pics together.  We made a few of him so he won't be swimming all by himself.

Enjoy~!

Distance...

I am about to go back to my parents home in a few days after we leave Hong Kong.  I can't wait to see my parents, sisters and my brother!

When I did my last photo session, I couldn't help realize a subtle jealousy between siblings.  It seems a bit more obvious here but you can see the older sister eyeing her brother joyous and triumphant with his hand in his mom's.  Don't get me wrong, the mom is super lovely toward BOTH of her children and she also got to hold her mommies hand as well after this shot.

This reminded me of my little sister who lost her youngest place to my little baby brother when she was about to turn 10.  Imagine the long 10 years of being treated as a baby of the family and all the benefits it came with it.  All of sudden on one day a boy was born in the midst of all the girls in the house and she was taken off the pedestal.

The theme is "distance", and I looked at it from the perspective of a child who feels the distance from the parents, even though the love from the parents is still there and never changed...

Family Portrait - Stanley: Hong Kong Photographer

How is everyone?

It's been a while since I last posted on the blog.  Sorry about that!
Quite crazy on the home front with all the organizing and packing before the packers came yesterday.

I'm so going to miss doing photo shoots in Hong Kong.  I know I have mentioned how Hong Kong is so diverse and it's been great taking family portraits here.

Fortunately for me, I got a call last week for a last minute photo shoot request!  We started out thinking of doing a short session but ended up doing a full session because there was so much and so many places to photograph.  I haven't done a photo shoot down in Stanley so I feel very lucky that I got to do that before I left.

I have to separate into two parts this time because there were so many amazing photos of this family.  Let me tell you most of these photos in the set are as natural as it can get in terms of posing.  The kids were non stop moving and doing the normal things they loved to do.  run and play~ Of course there are a few that I "TRIED" to pose them~  haha
